This is just a short post to clear up and questions about the scale of the Zodiac 340 Cipher.

I am going to start by first posting a high-resolution scan of the 340 cipher.

Here is the proof of scale at the bottom of the document.

It is 3 inches.

I am going to measure it just for the hell of it. You never know when it might come in useful or if someone else may find it useful.

I found this in reference to the size of the 340 cipher on a forum and snipped it.

He states the paper size is 7.25 inches by 10.5 inches... He is correct. Thanks to Richard Grinell and www.zodiacciphers.com I have found more information on the letter scales and info on the paper. I have looked for this fora while. He sent me a link to this website.

One of my friends. Marcelo asked me if I could scale the map for him using the Metric system. I ran into a few things that confused me but I think I got it straightened out. So I am going to post my work here just so I don't lose it. I found some dimensions on the map on zodiackillersite.com. Tahoe 27 posted them along with an original map. Once again I hear nothing but good things about this person. They have some more work that interests me that I am going to look into later when I have time. Something to do with a comic and a wheel. I found a wheel that looks really similar and I think they could really be onto something, but that is for a later. This is something I need to do anyway. So might as well do it now. Here is a snip from that site stating the dimensions.

Here is a close up of what the scale on the map reads. One inch equals 6.4 miles. They just put a 6 on the map because they couldn't really put a 6.4.

I got those exact measurements using the black and white scan of the map. Here are some examples. In my original overlay experiments, I used a print out of this map. I also used a color version also.

The example above shows one inch equaling 6 miles..or 6.4 if you want to do the math.

It came out to be exactly 8 inches by 6 and 3/4 inches. Here is an example below.

Now I am going to try this same experiment with a color version of the map.

More or less they are the same. Keep in mind maps were not as accurate then as they are today.

Now I will try to make a metric version for my friend.
